Basic coursework and accreditation information

Emergency Medical Technology Certification

Our EMT-Basic program includes classroom instruction covering Basic Life Support knowledge and skills criteria, clinical and field internship. Successful completion of the course requirements prepares the student for the National Registry of EMT certification examination.

The EMT-Basic certificate program is offered during the summer semester only. Students meet for lectures and skills practice from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., three days per week. In addition, 45 hours of clinical rotations are required during the semester.

The program prepares the student for the National Registry of EMT certification examination.

Program accreditation

The Paramedic certificate programs are accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP).

Institutional accreditation

ºÚÁÏÍø of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, also called ºÚÁÏÍø, is accredited by the  (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. ºÚÁÏÍø also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
