Lieutenant Colonel Theresa L. Dremsa's Biography

Lieutenant Colonel Theresa L. Dremsa was born in Boscobel, Wisconsin to Fred (Deceased) and Margaret Dremsa. She is the 6th of 13 children. She currently serves as Operations Officer for the 59th Clinical Research Squadron, 5 gth Support Group, 59~l~ Medical Wing, San Antonio, TX. The 5 gth Clinical Research Squadron oversees a $10 M research complex that provides guidance to Wing personnel in the development and performance of institutional and national biomedical research.

She graduated from Boscobel High, 3rd in her class and was inducted into the National Honor Society. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She joined the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1983 kicking off her Air Force career at Keesler AFB, MS. She was selected for an AFIT assignment and graduated Cum Laude with a Masters Degree in Cardiovascular Nursing in 1989 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham receiving the Outstanding Student Award and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. She attended the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Nursing and earned the Doctor of Philosophy in 2001 and again graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Dremsa also completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship at Ohio State University in 2003.

Her career has encompassed a wide variety of assignments, including a tour as Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation, Keesler AFB, Mississippi from 1984 to 1987. She was assigned as a staff nurse and then Clinical Nurse Specialist at Lackland AFB, Texas in 1989 to 1992. She was then assigned as Manager of Outpatient Clinics at Lakenheath AB, England from 1992 to 1995. She became Nurse Manager of the Coronary Care Unit at Wright Patterson AFB in 1995 and advanced to Senior Nurse Executive of the Special Care Flight from 1996 to 1998. She deployed in support of Operation DESERT STORM, twice for Operation PROVIDE PROMISE, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. She completed Squadron Officer School in 1991, Air Command and Staff College in 1995 and Air War College in 2003. Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, United Nations Medal, NATO Medal and Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

She is married to Robert Brewer of Boscobel, Wisconsin. She has two daughters, Maya Rudd and Alma Saudia. She also has four grandsons, two step daughters and one step granddaughter.
