The Speech-Language Pathology program is hosting CONNECT, a summer teletherapy program for pediatric patients.

Enrollment is underway for the program, which includes two, 60-minute teletherapy sessions per week and runs through July 31. Patients in the program will be assigned to two graduate students from the speech-language pathology program. The students, who are in their third semester of the five-semester program, are under the direct supervision of a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, said Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator Angela Kennedy, SLP-D, CCC-SLP.

Patients’ specific diagnosis and current levels of functioning will determine the evidence-based treatment services they receive. The program offers individualized treatment services that will be implemented following a treatment plan and via a secure platform.

To be able to participate in the program, the following criteria must be met:

•    Patients must be able to participate in teletherapy using the internet
•    Documentation of the previous diagnosis of speech-language disorder or delay, such as a copy of an evaluation report or current IEP
•    Parents and caregivers must be available during all teletherapy sessions to help with technology and to assist patients with their participation to maximize the benefit of the program’s services.

To apply, send name, email address, phone number, and a copy of the required evaluation to CSD-SLP@uthscsa.edu.
