Scott G. Stafford, DDS, MBA, was appointed as associate dean of patient care in the School of Dentistry on Aug. 1. Dr. Stafford has been a leader in the school for over 22 years, most recently serving as director for professional development and continuing dental education and also as interim chair of the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry. 

Dr. Stafford brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position. After earning his dental degree with the school’s class of 1996, he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas Tech University and a certificate in executive coaching from ������ of Texas at Dallas. In 2022, Dr. Stafford was inducted as a fellow in the International College of Dentistry.

Prior to working full-time with the school, Dr. Stafford owned and operated four group practice locations in and around San Antonio. He also co-authored and has managed the Dental Practice Readiness Curriculum for the past 19 years to teach dental students management skills and economics related to the profession. The curriculum is used by over a quarter of U.S. dental schools.

In his announcement, School of Dentistry Dean Peter M. Loomer, DDS, PhD, MBA, commented, “I am excited that Dr. Stafford has agreed to serve in this capacity and know that he will be an important addition to the School of Dentistry. I look forward to partnering with him as we continue to enhance our clinical operations and initiatives in support of our ever-advancing educational, research and patient care missions.”
